Final ‘Doctor Sleep’ Trailer Taps into ‘The Shining’
November 8th can’t come soon enough for fans of Stephen King and The Shining. I’m excited for the sequel after reading the novel, even if it is 39 years after the release of the quintessential Stanley Kubrick film.
Ewan McGregor stars as the adult Danny Torrence in Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of the King novel. In the new trailer we see some classic scenes of nostalgia like Danny on his Bigwheel, The Overlook, the Grady twins, and the bloody elevators.
Struggling with alcoholism, Dan Torrance remains traumatized by the sinister events that occurred at the Overlook Hotel when he was a child. His hope for a peaceful existence soon becomes shattered when he meets Abra, a teen who shares his extrasensory gift of the “shine.” Together, they form an unlikely alliance to battle the True Knot, a cult whose members try to feed off the shine of innocents to become immortal.
The film stars Rebecca Feguson as Rose the Hat, Carl Lumbly as a younger Dick Hollarann, Alex Essoe as Wendy Torrence, Kyliegh Curran, Bruce Greenwood, the talented Jocelin Donahue (House of the Devil), Alyn Lind, and Jacob Tremblay.
