Horror I’m Excited About: AMC’s ‘Preacher’

Preacher is the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a conflicted preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse embarks on a journey to, literally, find God, joined by his ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and an Irish vagabond named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun).

AMC is no stranger to success off the beaten path, capitalizing on series like Mad Men, The Walking Dead, and Breaking Bad. Beginning Sunday, May 22nd, the network debuts what might be their weirdest and most ambitious series yet, the television adaptation of Vertigo/DC Comics’ Preacher. Created by comic rogue, Garth Ennis, the comic is about a small town preacher that is literally searching to find God. Not metaphorically mind you, in person.
