Super-Lame ‘American Horror Story’ to be “Radically Reinvented”
If you’ve watched season three and four of this once insanely creepy and well thought out series, then you know it’s in serious trouble. The first season was a fresh take on American horror and welcome in millions of horror fans’ homes. By the midpoint of season three, it was becoming worrisome to me. Now, with the fourth season so ridiculous I refuse to even finish it, fans are bitching for good reason.
American Horror Story now sucks.
Is that going to change with FX CEO/bigwig, John Landgraf’s news? Landgraf spoke with TVLine and had this to say.
“One of the things I love so much about that is that it can be radically, radically reinvented in terms of tone, setting, period, characters, cast. I think there’s going to be an unusually large reinvention in between Book 4 and Book 5 relative to, say, between Book 3 and 4.”
Any mention of Jessica Lange returning?
“Ryan (Murphy) is really, really independent in how he makes these shows and what he does. So I know the setting, I know something about the characters and something about the tone and the time period, but I don’t actually know the cast yet.”
So, basically, he knows the setting, tone, and a thing or two about the characters. Let’s hope he also knows good television when he hears it. American Horror Story Season Five will presumably return in October.
I haven’t seen this season yet (have to wait till it comes out on Netflix because I refuse to pay ~ $2/episode), so I can’t comment on it…but I have NEVER understood why people think “Asylum” was such a fabulous season. I hated it with a fiery passion – they threw in, like, every freaking horror trope they could think of, making for a bloated story that wasn’t even sure what it’s story was about…there were loose ends left untied…I had to force myself to finish watching it. I didn’t mind “Coven” so much (at least it was coherent and wasn’t trying to tell 800 different stories in 1) but I think the only actual GOOD season was the first.
That’s a pretty valid statement. For me it came down to the crushing evil of Satan possessing the Sister in her innocence and the terrible relationshop she had with the Monsignor and Arden. Lana’s story was central to me and I sort of tuned out the lame Kit/Alien thing since it really didn’t go anywhere. I love me a great Satan story!
What can we say about the first season? The Harmons and that house were perfect. I LOATHE this season. I hope they get it together for S5, they seem to know it’s sinking since the whole companion show is now moving forward, etc.
