Enjoyed from a snifter
A: Pours a dark, clear copper with two fingers of creamy, tan-colored head. Great retention, the creamy head hugs the glass, leaving sticky lacing until the end.
S: Tons of caramel sweetness, candied sugar, grassy, piney hops, roasted grains, floral hops.
T: Whoa. Crisp, juicy citusy hops. A lot of sweet citrus on the front end; orange, lemon, clementine. The sweet caramel malts hits next, washing over the tongue with rich notes of candied/brown sugar and muted earthy hops. Not at all what I was expecting. Very tasty.
M: Medium bodied, creamy and rich. The booze is obvious, but nowhere near hot. Leaves a lasting grapefruit flavor.
O: Lagunitas have my attention. I’ve tried every one of their brews knew to my market and I haven’t found one I dislike. This is a great strong ale that begs to be slammed or sipped on the sweaty, humid Kentucky summer. Another delicious offering from Lagunitas.
