Brewed by Three Floyds/Surly/Real Ale
Style: American Black Ale
Serve at 48°
Enjoyed from a snifter
A: Pours a solid black with two fingers of off-white head that settles down to a 1/4″ ring, lacing the entire time.
S: Piney and earthy, citrus, a subtle roasted note lingers; very clean and crisp. No trace of alcohol.
T: Piney, resiny, sticky citrusy hops pop on the tongue before the sweet notes take over. Roasted malts, chocolate, biscuit notes, very dry. The sticky hops return one more time believe or not.
M: Full bodied, sticky, moderate carbonation.
O: Black IPAs have never been a favorite of mine, but this collaboration is enough to make reconsider. This is a delicious beer start to finish. The flavor profile morphed along with the warming beer. I know Three Floyd get jacked off a lot, but it’s usually for a good reason. Great beer.
