‘Black Rock’ (2012) Movie Review
Directed by Katie Aselton
Written by Mark Duplass & Katie Aselton
Starring: Katie Aselton, Lake Bell, and Kate Bosworth
Three childhood friends set aside their personal issues and reunite for a girls’ weekend on a remote island off the coast of Maine. One wrong move turns their weekend getaway into a deadly fight for survival.
Now I know why this wasn’t billed as “Written & Directed by ‘Jenny’ from The League!” Too much negative press for the graphic FX series. First off, the dialogue in Black Rock can only be compared to something like Creed’s lyrics. Petty, stupid, and extremely unrealistic, the relationship between the three old friends is the only thing more ridiculous than the script. I prefer to keep watching The League, so I’m going to pin the shitty dialogue on Mark Duplass. Horrible.
Three old friends somewhat agree to tap back in to their glory days by visiting a remote island from their past. Before they can finish the ridiculous dialogue they discover they aren’t alone. If you actually intend to watch this film, I won’t spoil it for you.
It’s terrible through and through. Not even Katie Aselton’s full frontal nude scene saves it.
Juvenile, rushed, and poorly constructed, this is nothing to pay money for. Nothing.
