Enjoyed from a snifter
A: Pours a deep muddy brown with two fingers of thin, toffee colored head. Virtually no retention.
S: Malts, caramel, woody, dark fruits, spices, anise, cherries and warming alcohol.
T: Big burst of hoppy alcohol on the front end. Vanilla, butterscotch, cinnamon, allspice, licorice, candied cherries, dark fruit, and a hint of leather.
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation, smooth and very creamy.
O: Awesome seasonal brew with a different approach than all the usual spice bombs taking up shelf space this time of year. Avery are fantastic at what they do and this is a prime example.
