Notes:
Imperial stout brewed with pumpkins Warlock is brewed to enchant your palate on its own and also to counterpoint our Imperial Ale, Pumking. Make your own black magic by carefully pouring this Imperial Stout into a goblet.
Dark and mysterious, the Blackwater Series is serious about high gravity. Reanimate your senses with Warlock’s huge roasted malt character, moderate carbonation and spicy pumpkin pie aroma.
A: Pours a dark, root beer color with generous cream-colored foam. Minimal lacing and retention.
S: A ton if spices up front. Allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg and a hint of anise. Deep roasty, chocolate notes cradle a generous pumpkin flesh aroma, tapping in to that graham cracker smell Pumking is known for. I don’t know how they do it, but that rich, buttery note is fabulous.
T: Dear Lord. This is fantastic. The pumpkin isn’t as pronounced as the nose let on, but it has an unmistakable presence. The spices come next; cinnamon, allspice, ginger, nutmeg, and a touch of dark chocolate. The malts are sweet, almost presenting a butterscotch flavor. This is exactly what you’d expect from a Pumking married to a rich stout. Very well done.
M: Medium bodied and chewy with a touch too much carbonation. Very decadent and robust for these cool Autumn nights.
O: I’ve fallen in love with Southern Tier and their Blackwater series. This addition is perfect for pairing with horror movies and bouts of extreme October laziness. As hoped, this has several Pumking elements paired with a chocolatey, grainy stout. I would stop reading and head over to your finest liquor store.
