WTF? Lamb of God’s Response to the Malaysian Government Gig Cancellation
Here’s just one more reason to keep it here in good old ‘Merica. No matter how perceptibly offensive or less than mainstream-approved, when it comes to music, just about anything goes here in the states. (Twerk) The heavy hitting metal band, Lamb of God, were denied a permit “…because the performances of the group were found to infringe on religious sensitivities and cultural values of Malaysian society”
Yeah, seriously. The band’s guitarist, Mark Morton, responded.
“It is very evident (and a bit frustrating) that the groups, parties and powers that have taken the most offense to our music and lyrics, have themselves only made a passing glance at the content and meanings of those songs. We would invite anyone offended by our music to engage in a discussion regarding the true motivations behind our work, especially before publicly slandering us based on assumptions and shallow misinterpretation.
“We sincerely apologize to our amazing fans in Malaysia for the cancellation. Many thanks to all who have spoken out in support of us through this.”
All this is 2013. Makes you scratch your head and wonder doesn’t it? So, with that, here’s some Lamb of God.
