[EMF] Effing Metal Friday: Metal Covers! 8.9.13
We get excited to hear one of our favorite bands cover a song by another band we dig. Not only does it confirm that said band has great taste in music, but it can often times add a new feel to a classic song.
Opeth covering Alice in Chains’ Would. So much fun to jam along with this.
A very relaxing Deftones covering The Chauffer by Duran duran.
A Perfect Circle adding a cool discordant feel to John Lennon;s Imagine.
Mastodon nailing Metallica’s Orion.
This Trivium version of Metallica’s Master of Puppets is amazing.
Mastodon covers The Flaming Lips A Spoonful Weighs a Ton
Pantera’s cover of Black Sabbath’s Planet Caravan is very conducive to nocturnal activities.
The Sword paying homage to ZZ Top’s Cheap Sunglasses. Excellent groove. These guys get it.
Very discordant, but Machine Head do a great cover of Message in a Bottle by The Police.
One of my favorite covers is Type O Negative doing Seals and Crofts’ Summer Breeze. It perpetually traps me in 1994 and it opens the campy I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Metallica’s 1987 version of the Diamond Head classic, Helpless, helped make Metallica living legends to me and my friends. I still love this.
