Karen Black Dead at Age 74 (1939-2013): A Woman That Impacted My Horror Love

karenblack

Veteran actor Karen Black passed away today after battling cancer for some time. Horror fans, especially us Gen X kids, are sure to remember her from Burnt Offerings, Trilogy of Terror, Mirror Mirror, and Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses. Despite her horror proclivities, Black was featured in Dennis Hopper’s Easy Rider and Bob Rafelson’s Five Easy Pieces.

I convinced my babysitter to let me watch Trilogy of Terror when I was a little kid, and was completely traumatized by it. Same for Burnt Offerings. I was excited to see her in House of 1000 Corpses, where she did some of her best crazy work. She will be missed. Rest in peace, Karen.

  1. May she rest in peace!

  2. Damn. It’s hard to believe she was 74…such evil hotness in her day. Burnt offering gave me nightmares for weeks.
