[EMF] Effing Metal Friday: SATAN! 6.28.13
Oh, metal, where would you be without the devil? He’s a busy guy when it comes to metal. He spent all that time being worshiped via backwards messages on rock albums back in the 80s. He’s the driving force behind bands like Ghost, Venom, and Deicide. Let’s not forget his most impressive feat: making Nickelback multimillionaires. Wrap your mind around that. It all makes sense now, doesn’t it?
Satan is permanently linked to metal and that’s never going to change. When I was a kid back in the 70’s, I was a huge fan of KISS, which stood for “Knights in Satan’s Service” according to my Sunday school teacher. Now, listen, kids, KISS were guilty of a lot of things, but I seriously doubt Satanism was one of them. It’s hard to deny the subject matter and imagery that Satan and Satanism brings to metal. Whether it’s cheesy, eerily well done, or burn-down-a-church serious, we have a huge library to pick from. Here’s some of my favorite evil-inspired songs.
