29-year-old Richard Ramirez was sentenced to death in 1989 for 13 murders, five attempted murders, 11 sexual assaults and 14 burglaries. His words are still lingering in that California courtroom.
“I am beyond good and evil. I will be avenged. Lucifer dwells in us all.”
A self-proclaimed serial murder and rapist, Ramirez was coined “The Night Stalker” after he gained entry to his victim’s home through unlocked windows and doors. During the spring and summer of 1985, Ramirez dealt death, rape, and torture to his victims with everything from his fists, to guns and knives. His method of physical and mental torture had the California community living in terror. His affiliation with Satan worship brought these terrible acts into even darker territory. I’ll never forget him flashing the pentagram carved into his hand. Ramirez drifted in and out of drugs and saw a series of minor arrests before he succumbed to a life of demonic purpose.
He was 53 years old and died of natural causes while awaiting his moment on death row.
