Today in Horror: The 10th Anniversary of the ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Series Finale

buffys7

Damn, geeks have gotten old. It’s been a decade since the life and death series finale that ended with the culmination of season seven. I recorded this show every week on my state of the art Sony VHS player. Feel old again? To this day, there is no geek-themed action/drama show that moves me in the way this one does. Supernatural has tons of heart and soul, and gives me the occasional goosebumps, but Buffy…oh, my dear trope-crushing Buffy Summers.

Maybe it’s that I’m a sucker for the girl hero, and that’s part of it, but the real love here is a perfect storm. Expertly crafted and cast, these characters came to life like no other. Few shows really impress their pain, frustration, or fear like the outstanding cast from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Enjoy the clips and maybe bust out the DVDS – there’s a gold mine in there. Bunnies, that classic hand gesture from Hush, the revealing Once More with Feeling, Olaf impressions: they’re all waiting on you.

Duh, it’s a decade old – expect spoilers.

  1. I didn’t discover Buffy till it was over (mostly because I grew up with only 3 channels) but oh dear god, do I adore it. I have watched all 7 seasons countless times and followed season 8 in the comics for quite awhile (till it got too expensive to buy them all, lol). So quotable and so epic. I do love Supernatural though – for several reasons but damn do they get the BEST guest stars EVER.

    • Buffy never gets old. I’ve watched them so many times and just fell in love with it. I’m on the season 9 comic and still can’t put it down.

      • I would LOVE to catch up on the comics but my library doesn’t carry them (they have a pretty big comic/graphic novel collection).
