Sixpoint ‘3Beans’ Craft Beer Review

3beans

Brewed by Sixpoint

$9.99/Six Pack

Style: Baltic Porter

10.0% ABV

Serve at 45-50°

Availability: Limited (brewed once)

Enjoyed from a pint glass

Notes:
A Sixpoint & Friends jam session one-off. Made with Mast Brothers Chocolate cacao husks and infused with fresh Stumptown Coffee Roasters cold brew, and then aged on oak.

A: Pours a deep dark brown with two fingers of impressive cream-colored head. Stupendous retention.

S: Overwhelming blend of cocoa and coffee, but an emphasis on the chocolate. It smells like a cold pint of hot chocolate mix.

T: Lightly burnt, roasty, astringent, nice woody notes on the back of the bitter chocolate side. The coffee flavors seem to dominate this for the most part. The semi-sweet flavor hides the alcohol well. You’d never know it’s in there.

M: Heavy-bodied, creamy, lightly acidic, very dry at the end.

O: It drinks more like a Founders Breakfast Stout than a oaked porter. I think the oak is pretty much lost, but this is a coffee lovers dream. Between the flavor and mouthfeel. this was a huge success for Sixpoint. I’m glad a have three more tucked away.
