Enjoyed from a DFH Signature glass
A: Pours a orange-amber hue with two fingers of frothy white head.
S: Fresh citrusy hops, caramel, bitter rye, and subtle floral hops.
T: Spicy, bold flavors of rye and citrusy hops, Big blast of ruby-red grapefruit, lemon, orange rind, and piney flavors. Finishes very clean with the spicy rye leaving a bitter hop profile dissipating throughout my mouth and throat.
M: Full-bodied with fantastic carbonation. The rye profile starts oily, but quickly forgoes that for a big dry finish. Very nice.
O: Great Lakes are hit or miss with me. The brews from them that I enjoy, I really enjoy. This is another in the recent line of IPA/DIPAs that totally satisfies. This can hang with Lake Erie Monster or Alchemy any day. The rye is cool addition – one that’s getting a lot of attention in the beer world right now – but not everyone is using it to its best potential. This, however, this feels like a drink you can sip along with Mad Men and know Don Draper himself would approve. Yum. Being Sunday, I think I know what my night has in store.
