Brewed by Great Lakes Brewing Company
Style: Winter Warmer
Serve at 45-50
Enjoyed from a DFH Signature glass
A: Pours a translucent amber/copper with two foamy fingers of cream-colored head.
S: Honey and strong Christmas spices; cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, vanilla, light but familiar Great Lakes malts. I get subdued notes of dark berries and toast in the end. This is a busy little brew, kids.
T: Very clean honey and gingerbread when it first meets your lips. Cherries, apples, and other sweet fruits take hold, finally finishing with lightly toasted grains and caramel. Very spicy and refreshing.
M: Medium-bodied with a strange palette of sweet fruits coating my mouth and tongue. Very rich and clean finish.
O: What’s not to like? You either love Christmas beers or you don’t. Personally, I have no idea how people pass on these seasonal winners. Considering the ever-growing choice of Christmas ales, stouts, porters, and warmers, it seems like you have to go out of your way to avoid one of these tasty winter beers. Great Lake aren’t in my top five, but their seasonal offerings are rock solid. Go get some, grinch ass.
