Joe Hill’s Epic “Locke & Key” Comic Confirmed as Movie Trilogy

Article by FisterRoboto of

Universal Studios have announced the IDW horror title “Locke & Key”, written by Joe Hill (Stephen King’s son) is indeed coming to the big screen as a trilogy. This comic is the best horror title of the last 20 years, hands down. Fans are excited and anxious to see these beloved characters coming to theaters. Writer/producer Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Transformers/Star Trek) are steering this deeply Lovecraftian story into moviegoers laps.

Author, Hill, who knows a little something about keys to the kingdom.

A pilot episode was filmed for Fox’s 2011 schedule, but it ultimately never found a home. Both MTV and SyFy considered picking up the series, alas, nothing came of it. As a horror and comic book lover, I couldn’t be more excited about the potential promise this news brings. If you haven’t read the title, the trades are available everywhere and it is essential reading.

Locke & Key tells of Keyhouse, an unlikely New England mansion, with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them…. and home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all…! Acclaimed suspense novelist and New York Times best-selling author Joe Hill (Heart-Shaped Box) creates an all-new story of dark fantasy and wonder, with astounding artwork from Gabriel Rodriguez.
