Notes:
In honor of the 40th anniversary of the original release of Bitches Brew, Miles Davis’ 1970 paradigm-shifting landmark fusion breakthrough, we’ve created our own Bitches Brew — a bold, dark beer that’s a fusion of three threads of imperial stout and one thread of honey beer with gesho root. It’s a gustatory analog to Miles’ masterpiece.
A: Opaque brown with large dark tan bubbles that vanishes quickly. Not much retention.
S: Dark malts, chocolate, toasted grains; very earthy. The alcohol is obvious.
T: Strong roasted coffee, milk chocolate, and cocoa. The honey is noticeable if you’re inclined to pay attention. There’s a nice alcohol burn and subtle hop note in the finish. Fantastic brew. There’s a lot going on in here.
M: Very crisp on the front end, but the creaminess becomes obvious. Medium-bodied, and not typical of a stout. It all works I promise.
O: Just as delicious as last year. The addition of the bitter gesho root works uniquely as is typical for DFH. Throw on Mile’s ‘Bitches Brew’ during the experience and enjoy the this September release.
