Sierra Nevada Best of Beer Camp: #45 Oatmeal Stout

Article by FisterRoboto of lefthandhorror.com

Brewed by Sierra Nevada Brewing Company

$13.99/variety twelve pack

Style: American Double/Imperial Stout

9.0% ABV

Serve at 50-55

Enjoyed from a pint glass

A: Pours pitch black with one finger of creamy mocha head. Nice staying and lacing power.

S: Huge roasted and chocolate malts, earthy oats and molasses rounds it out well.

T: Bitter chocolate, molasses, and oats up front. A little bit of espresso and alcohol is hiding in there. The flavors are much more intense as it warms. Bad ass brew.

M: Rich and silky, full-bodied, you’ll barely notice the alcohol.

O: I’m loving the idea of the SN variety 12 pack that features the oatmeal stout as one of its four entries. Hopefully with a little success, the oatmeal stout will end up in six packs – it’s far too delicious to overlook and trumps the brewery’s current stout offering. No stout lover should skip this brew.
