Gemini (Imperial Blended Ale) Beer Review

Articleby FisterRoboto of lefthandhorror.com

Brewed by Southern Tier Brewing Co.

$9.99/Bomber

Style: American Strong Ale

9.00% ABV

Serve at 50-55 Degrees

Enjoyed from a tulip glass

A: Pours a hazy honey-gold with three fingers of creamy head. Nice lacing.

S: Sugary, caramel malts, fruity and herbal with a little bit of lemon in the end.

T: A perfect balance of honey sweetness, caramel, even a mild butterscotch flavor before the bitter hops mingle in the finish. Great alcohol burn as it warms.

M: Thick and creamy. This finishes very dry and that has to help the malt-heavy style to allow some hoppy bitterness in the end.

O: I try to keep remembering this a strong ale and not a DIPA. I think adding a little bit more hops to the mix would result in a more balanced and complex strong ale, but this is my only minor complaint. Southern Tier seem to be cementing themselves high on my frequent offender list. This brewery has a lot of great things going on in 2012. Give this one a try.

  1. Am I Reading That Correctly, Sir?
    $10 For ONE Beer?!?!
Did It Come With Free Aspirin AND A Bowl Of Soup?!?!?!
    Sheesh.
    “Mr. Fancy” Strikes Again!

    • One 22 ounce beer, so it’s kind of like paying 5 bucks a beer at the bar. Kind of. 😉

      • But That’s More Expensive Than The Beers At The Ballpark. They’re 22oz For $8.50, And THAT Always Seems Totally UNREASONABLE. You Could Get An Amazingly Wonderful Bottle Of Red Wine Here For $10. And Price Has ZERO To Do With Quality In Regard To Wine. The Worst I’ve Had Cost Over $100 a Bottle. The BEST I’ve Ever Had Cost $12 a Bottle.
        hehehehe
        I Still Say You’re FANCY!!!
        L8r On, Dude!

      • I swear to God, if I’m at a concert or other outdoor event and all they have is like Bud Lite or Miller, I go without. I would cry if I spent arena prices on terrible beer.

I’ve come to terms with my fanciness. 🙂

      • I Can Totally Accept That Answer.
And I’m Glad You Can Admit To Your Fancy Ways.
AND I’m Kinda Happy I Can’t Drink Beer, So I Never Have To Worry About Blowing My Money On It.
I’d Much Rather Buy A Large Coke & Some Nachos =D
