Brewed by Southern Tier Brewing Co.
Style: American Strong Ale
Serve at 50-55 Degrees
Enjoyed from a tulip glass
A: Pours a hazy honey-gold with three fingers of creamy head. Nice lacing.
S: Sugary, caramel malts, fruity and herbal with a little bit of lemon in the end.
T: A perfect balance of honey sweetness, caramel, even a mild butterscotch flavor before the bitter hops mingle in the finish. Great alcohol burn as it warms.
M: Thick and creamy. This finishes very dry and that has to help the malt-heavy style to allow some hoppy bitterness in the end.
O: I try to keep remembering this a strong ale and not a DIPA. I think adding a little bit more hops to the mix would result in a more balanced and complex strong ale, but this is my only minor complaint. Southern Tier seem to be cementing themselves high on my frequent offender list. This brewery has a lot of great things going on in 2012. Give this one a try.
