Style: American Strong Ale
Serve at 50-55 degrees
Enjoyed from a pint glass
A: Pours a dark cherry/ruby-red with two fingers of white head that vanishes quickly. Very little lacing.
S: Sweet and malty, dark fruits, candied sugar, some alcohol. *drool*
T: Wow. This is so much better than Arrogant Bastard. Sweet, caramel hits first and immediately followed by a very citrusy hop bite. Very nice alcohol bite as it warms. The oily hops on your tongue stays intense for some time.
M: Medium to heavy-bodied. So nice and creamy for something this strong. Leaves a bittersweet flavor behind. Wonderful stuff.
O: Stone hits it out of the park with Double Bastard. When I think of a traditional strong ale, this is what comes to mind. This is a great sipping ale and the bomber delivers a nice warming embrace to go along with it. I can’t suggest this enough if you enjoy a nice strong ale. Stone never fails to blow me away. This is a straight up steal for the price.
