Two lovable West Virginian hillbillies, are headed to their “fixer-upper” vacation cabin to drink some beer, do some fishin’, and have a good time. But when they run into a group of preppy college kids who assume from their looks that they must be in-bred, chainsaw wielding killers, Tucker & Dale’s vacation takes a bloody & hilarious turn for the worse.
Tucker (Alan Tudyk) and Dale (Tyler Labine) are just two West Virginian good ‘ol boys with the same old problems as you and me. They just want to drink some cold beers, learn to talk to women better, work on their vacation home, and not get killed when their redneck appearance gets them in hot water.
This film puts the traditional role of the backwoods lunatic on its ass and dives in head first into both sublime, irreverent horror…and a wood chipper. Score.
Tucker and Dale are mistaken for grisly, inbred hillbillies by a group of hot coeds in this hilariously brutal comedy/horror film. I know this movie deals with traditional views of people and prejudice, but maybe set down the sharp and intimidating scythe before you talk to chicks.
Looking the part, these two good-natured hicks nearly get themselves killed time and time again with often hilarious results. The pair just can’t get their timing right. Just ask the kid that dives into a running wood chipper when Tucker blindly moves out of the way at the last moment.
This movie made me nervous until the bloody end. It’s one of those movies where so many things go wrong, and in the precise manner needed to cause extra trauma and maximum carnage. The bumbling stars really deliver an authentic and over the top performance. If this isn’t enough to convince you, did I mention it also stars the abnormally beautiful Katrina Bowden (Cerie from 30 Rock)?
This is a very unusual “horror” movie, and not everyone is going to love it. I sure did though. This is available to watch instantly on Netflix right now. Take a 90 minute break and treat yourself to this award-winning bloodfest.
