Bell’s Third Coast Old Ale Beer Review

bells-third-coast-old-ale

$16/six pack

Style: American Barleywine

10.20 % ABV

Serve at 45-50 Degrees

Enjoyed from a snifter

Notes:

“Third Coast Old Ale is a cellerable American-style barleywine that has notes of dried fruit and caramel embedded in a rich malt background that will grow more complex over time.”

A: Orange-mahogany, hazy with one finger of off-white head. Nice lacing through and through.

S: Dark fruits take over. Plum, figs, raisin, caramel, toffee – very sweet. Piney hops in the back end.

T: Dark fruits initially, sweet malts, and a lingering hops; very citrusy in the finish. Oak is very noticeable as it warms. No real alcohol overload. Excellent brew.

M: Medium-bodied, thick and chewy, the perfect amount of carbonation. Finishes dry.

O: Love it. This is my go to barleywine. It’s just so smooth and wonderfully crafted. Very complex, and it doesn’t drink like the strong brew that it is. Love sipping these in any season.
