Hoppin’ Frog Frosted Frog Christmas Ale Review

Article by FisterRoboto of

$9.99 22 oz Bomber

Style/ABV: Winter Warmer %8.60

Serve at 45-50 Degrees F

Enjoyed from a DFH Signature Glass

A: Pours a deep copper with minimal head and zero lacing.

S: Lots of spices. Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, cloves, and a malty backbone.

T: The nose was a dead giveaway. Tons of cinnamon and nutmeg in the first sip. I’m not going to say it’s overpowering, but it’s close. Finishes dry and sends a mild burn of cinnamon all the way down.

M: Medium-bodied, creamy if not downright silky. A bit chewy and one of this ales’ best sticking points.

O: Very festive. Not a balanced warmer in my opinion. Tastes like DFH Punkin on meth. Worth having a festive bottle for the holiday season, but I think one is enough. Still, as spicy as it is, I would rather have too much than not enough in this situation.

This is sure to make a splash at your non-denominational winter funfest.

  1. drinking one right now. don’t like it. It has that raisin-y taste of an american brewery trying to make Belgian ale. I’d say go for the Delirium Tremens Christmas Ale and skip this.
