The Defenders are back – and they’re boring so far.
I know this is their issue to focus on team building, and the issue is enthusiastic. I just never felt very engaged by the issue or invested in the characters so far. I know Strange has been kind of off his game since he lost the title, but it just feels wrong.
Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, She-Hulk, Namor, and Silver Surfer have joined together, all characters I really enjoy, this just feels flat to me. Banner and The Hulk are separated and I’m curious to see where this heads.
I’m thrilled to have such an incredible art team, the Dodsons are amazing, and I’m glad to see them involved. Their tiny changes to established characters are always appreciated.
I miss Hellcat with the current line up, but I think they have plenty of time to add her…along with who knows else. Marvel are cranking out a ton of titles right now and I know they want to put DC back in the #2 spot, but I hope it’s not at the expense of cranking out mediocre titles. Don’t even get me started.
The Defenders are a cool team and so far their big bad is Nul: The Breaker of Worlds. They have their work cut out for them. Maybe my lackluster review is connected to my bad mood and on again/off again headache. I just know something feels off today with this title. I hope they beef up the next issue and that I feel better when I read it.
There was one moment today that caused a real life LOL. Iron Fist is 32,000 feet over China and thinks to himself: “The older I get, the more life seems to be the stupid, frustrating stuff that gets in the way of you and reading comics.”
Amen, Iron Fist, Amen.
