Joss Whedon’s The Cabin in the Woods/RZ’s Lord’s of Salem Updates

Article by FisterRoboto of lefthandhorror.com

With the April 13th, 2012 Cabin in the Woods release date rapidly approaching, more details are being revealed. A nearly full cast has been announced. I’m curious as hell who or what Nosferatu is.

If you’re out of the loop regarding the highly-anticipated horror movie, it’s your standard kids-stranded-in-the-woods-oh-shit-we’re-effed type of entry. Good times I’m sure.

Confirmed cast members:

Not to be outdone in 2012, Rob Zombie is trucking right along with his original film, The Lords of Salem. If you think this looks super fucked up based solely on the poster – I agree. It’s safe to assume Mr. Zombie will be firing on all cylinders.

The plot is as follows:

A local DJ plays a cursed record and unwittingly unleashes a coven of 300-year old witches who were secretly imprisoned and tortured during the Salem Witch Trials.

Yeah, sign me up.

Casting has been announced on this one as well. I can only assume Sheri Moon Zombie and her ass will will be bringing up the “rear”. Har. Sorry, you could get this info from a more professional and pun-free site. I’m glad to see Zombie’s frequent offenders coming back to this one.

Some new images from the movie have been released, and while they aren’t tremendous reveals by any means, I’m excited as hell. I love Zombie’s directing style and his locations are nearly perfect. Enjoy the pics and mark both of these flicks on your horror calendar. I wish I had a firm release date for TLOS, I’m sure it’s right around the corner.

  1. I really hope this is a return to form for ROb Zombie. Don’t get me wrong I did enjoy Halloween and I certainly ddin’t hate the sequel like most of the horror community but I find they were lacking compared to his first 2 films. I’m glad he choose to deal with new material again and not another remake like The Blob which he did have his name attached to at one stage.
Some interesting names in the cast as well as the usual suspects…

  2. I was so happy he didn’t go with The Blob. I really liked his Halloween, but The Devil’s Rejects was just such a superior film. I have faith in the guy.

I think Sid Haig must be his security blanket. 😉

  3. Who wouldn’t feel safe curled up with Sid Haig on them 🙂
