Three Floyds “Dreadnaught” Beer Review

The fine folks at Three Floyds, located in the unassuming Munster, IN, make some damn fine beers. This stellar brewery is in my top five for so many reasons. You’re about to read reason #1: The perfect Dreadnaught.

Style/ABV: American Double/Imperial IPA – 9.5% ABV

Serve at 50-55 Degrees F

Best enjoyed in a tulip glass or snifter

A: Pours a hazy golden-hay color with a thin, but creamy, fluffy white head. Nice lacing from top to bottom.

S: Huge hop explosion as expected. Pine and citrus are intense.

T: IPA to the core. Malty sweet and almost orange or peach up front, grapefruit in the back. Finishes dry, adding a perfect balance to this beer. There is zero alcohol burn to this nearly 10% superstar.

M: As creamy as they come. Very low carbonation and the warm finish makes this a stand out brew – possibly my favorite year round offering.

O: Possibly the perfect DIPA. This rivals Hopslam, Maharaja, and Surly Abbrasive any day of the week, Sweet, but hoppy with a perfect balance. I pick up something from FFF every time I make a trip to Liquor Barn. Well worth the $10/bomber price. Never gets old.
