‘Bubba Ho-Tep’ Movie Review

May 20, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Written & Directed by Don Coscarelli Starring: Bruce Campbell, Ossie Davis, Ella Joyce Elvis and JFK, both alive and in nursing homes, fight for the souls of their fellow residents as they battle an ancient Egyptian Mummy. If that synopsis isn’t already a deal-breaker for you, there’s hope you might find this classic B Movie to be more of an A+ Movie. It’s just like it sounds: Elvis is convalescing at a Texas nursing home after trading identities with an […]

‘Psycho’ Movie Review: Another Viewing After Watching ‘Bates Motel’

May 6, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Screenplay by Joseph Stefano Based on the novel by Robert Bloch Directed by Alfred Hitchcock Starring: Anthony Perkins, Vera Miles, John Gavin, and Janet Leigh A thirty-something secretary steals $40,000 from her employer’s client, and subsequently encounters a young motel proprietor too long under the domination of his mother. Here we are 53 years after the release of Psycho, and this film is still as relevant as ever. I’ve seen this film at least a dozen times if not more. […]

[Horror TV] Dexter Season 8 Behind the Scenes Video: From Cop to Killer

May 6, 2013 by Fister Roboto

The final season of Dexter begins on 6/30 and I, for one, wish it an expedient end. This once amazing series has been going downhill since season 5. While there have been plenty of decent episodes dotted across those last three seasons, I think the fans are aware of the need to put this show down. Carpenter and Hall are stuck this new season, stuck in the limbo after Deb killed last season. I can only hope she doesn’t spend […]

[Horror TV] Are We Ready for ‘True Blood’ Season 6? Full Trailer Inside

May 5, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Ladies and gentlemen, start your swamp boners: our favorite Bon Temp bang/gorefest starts up again on June 16 at 9PM EST. Everyone’s favorite deep-friend Shakespearean romp is back for its glorious sixth season. I pay for HBO and I’ve grown to like the sleazy but fun little show. The last, uh, four seasons have been suspect at best, but something about True Blood keeps me wanting to watch. It’s like calling into work with the flu and allowing your cable […]

Official ‘Beneath’ Trailer is Up for a Vote

May 5, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Underwater monsters are hardly my favorite, but this might have some…bite to it. Sorry. Don’t judge – you’re the one that came here to watch a trailer about a lake monster. “When a bloodthirsty, underwater predator leaves a group of teens trapped on a leaking boat in the middle of a lake, the friends must choose between loyalty and survival in this monstrous morality tale from Fessenden.”

Bates Motel S1E7 ‘The Man in Number 9′ Review

April 29, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Spoilers After an unbelievable turn of events, the Bates find their free pass in the form of the Sheriff who instructs the damaged family on just “how” his deputy died. Facing shame and a litany of questions, the case closes up tight as a clam. What about Dylan’s wound? Oh, he was caught in the middle. Norma’s mood quickly improves, even making attempts to take care of Dylan to some degree. One hot breakfast doesn’t exactly make up for years […]

‘American Horror Story: Coven’ Dishes the First Witch?

April 29, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Returning for the third season, American Horror Story dropped this casting bomb on the unsuspecting public today. We already know that Kathy Bates is taking the top honor of portraying Lange’s former bff, but who’s this newest Cajun centerpiece? Please welcome…Gabourey Sidibe. Lips are sealed on just whom or…what she’ll be, but Ryan Murphy had this to Tweet: “Thrilled to announce Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe is joining the cast of ‘American Horror Story: Coven,’”. Hell yes. Also returning this October […]

New ‘Dexter’ TV Spot Questions Deb’s Murderous Ways

April 29, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Returning earlier than ever is the sixth season of Dexter on 6/30. Prove me wrong, Dexter, but this is on you this season. While the Deb promo is the coolest so far, I’m still worried after the last three seasons of weak showings. I’m hoping this round gets the attention it deserves; there will be no Dexter season nine. Dexter airs Sundays on Showtime at 9pm EST. Oh, yeah, Julian Sands portrays a bad guy this season. Will he boil […]

Bates Motel S1E6 ‘The Truth’ Review

April 23, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Bates Motel is in full mid-season swing, kids. How many seasons can they keep this up until it’s time for an adult version of Norman Bates to cheerfully greet hotel guests is anyone’s guess. Last night’s episode ‘The Truth’ was a telling title. As I mentioned before, I’m not writing these Bates Motel recaps, giving you a play by-play, but rather reviewing the performances and story arcs in a generic fashion – hoping you’ll feel inclined to watch. Manipulation. Norman […]

Dexter Season 8 Teaser Focuses on Being a Cereal Killer

April 22, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Someone warn General Mills – a loon is on the loose. The best thing about this teaser? It clearly states “THE LAST SEASON”. Do me a favor and give this once glorious show the death penalty already. In this…gripping…clip, Deb and Dex talk life in the cereal isle. The other teaser is just Dexter doing, you know, Dexter stuff. This season of Dexter is so anxious to end that it even starts early. The last season begins on 6/30 only […]

The Sixth Gun Cold Dead Fingers

[The TPB Vault] ‘The Sixth Gun’

April 16, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Every once in a while you pick up a trade of a series you skipped or missed out on. Inevitably, the trade in question is mind-blowing and you kick yourself for not catching it an issue at a time. (Don’t Locke & Key yourself like me) That’s the beauty of trades though and they’re coming out quicker than ever – and in more volume. This happened to me again with the wonderfully evil and weird The Sixth Gun. The old […]

Next on Bates Motel S1E6 ‘The Truth’

April 16, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Love it. Bates Motel is turning into an addiction. I say it every week, but the series is so good that you forget you’re seeing back story to Alfred Hitchcock’s classic, Psycho. I think a lot of people assumed the show would have a hard time gaining steam and it would most likely be a failed attempt to piggyback off the original film. Boy, were we wrong. Week after week the cast of Bates Motel drags me in deeper. If […]

DEXTER (Season 6)

Here’s Some Weak Footage from ‘Dexter’ Season 8 – Hooray

April 14, 2013 by Fister Roboto

It still feels weird to start a Dexter article with feelings of anger and frustration, but Showtime forced my hand. The once amazing series has taken on bloody water since season five. I know it has to be hard to top Lithgow as The Trinity Killer and all, but the last three seasons have taken our dark hero away from his code and basic character structure. Ugh, anyway, Dexter still has this whole Deb thing to wrap up, so I’m […]

‘Bates Motel’ S1E4 ‘Trust Me’ Review

April 9, 2013 by Fister Roboto

SPOILERS Just four episodes deep and I’m completely fixated on this creative new series. I’ve said it before, but the show is so good that I forget that I’m watching formative years of Norman Bates’ young life. Looking like the love child of Anthony Perkins and Colin Hanks, young Norman is nothing if not genuinely charming, and that helps knit the show together so well. Last week we learned that Norman sees and hears things that aren’t really there. This […]

R.I.P. ‘Friday the 13th’s’ Richard Brooker (1954-2013)

Sad news in the world of horror today, Richard Booker, the first Jason Vorhees to don a hockey mask, has passed away at the age of 58. Brooker portrayed the axe-wielding monster in Friday the 13th: Part 3, a film that haunted my early teenage years. Brooker did another film in 1983, Deathstalker, before eventually taking a career in horse training.

Creator, Robert Kirkman sat down and talked with IGN recently. The topics included The Governor breaking his one season commitment and becoming a series regular. Fans of the comic know Phillip didn’t stay alive long enough to become a regular. I assume the guy was so great at portraying the one-eyed nut job that he was asked back.
