My wife left for a few days in Vegas, which leaves me home with nothing to do. Some pain management and Stone RIS w/ espresso seems to be curing the pain/boredom until Game of Thrones and Mad Men airs. Sunday is a great time for this song. Play it often. Oh, and the original. The metal community lost one of its most respected and talented founding fathers on Thursday. Catchy title, huh? I’m loving the new RZ album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor. The funky keyboards really give it a jammed out vibe that merges well with John 5′s fantastic tone. Zombie’s lyrics are evil, over-the-top, pentagram laced bursts of acid dripping sexuality. I just assume every new stripper in America has a favorite off this record. Oh, hey, Mrs. Zombie.

Deftones bassist, Chi Cheng has passed away at age 42. Cheng sustained a serious injury in a 2008 car accident and never made a full recovery. Although he was semi-comatose, he did show promise at times. My deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and fans of Deftones. Pyre is from the Heritage Special Edition CD, which delivered this along with another bonus song titled, Face in the Snow. This was the second Opeth album to skip the death growls entirely. While I love some Watershed and Deliverance action, this is a hypnotic album on the opposite end of the spectrum, and well-deserving of any Opeth fan’s love.
