Deftones Bassist Chi Cheng – Dead at 42

Deftones bassist, Chi Cheng has passed away at age 42. Cheng sustained a serious injury in a 2008 car accident and never made a full recovery. Although he was semi-comatose, he did show promise at times. My deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and fans of Deftones. I was fortunate enough to see them a handful of times and Cheng was full of energy as he pounded out the back beat for one of metals most passionate bands. […]

Pyre is from the Heritage Special Edition CD, which delivered this along with another bonus song titled, Face in the Snow. This was the second Opeth album to skip the death growls entirely. While I love some Watershed and Deliverance action, this is a hypnotic album on the opposite end of the spectrum, and well-deserving of any Opeth fan’s love.
