WTF? Metallica Releases New Trailer and Imax Poster for “Through the Never”

May 23, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Finally, this half-assed Black album song is a ….film? Did I read or write that correctly? Turns out that I did. This looks like quite a bit of Metallica cash was spent on this and it does pique my interest. As much as I think Metallica suck right now, well, for the last decade or more, they are still Metallica after all, so count me in for the Metallica horror movie. Check out the synopsis. “As the band performs its […]

New Red & Green Band Trailers for ‘V/H/S/2′

May 22, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Wow. That was fast. Magnet picked up the new V/H/S/2 after Sundance, and have this deeper look into modern horror. The synopsis is chilling. Part 2 hits VOD on 6/6 and limited theatrical release on 7/12. Either way – go see it. Check out my review of the first film here to wet your whistle. “Inside a darkened house looms a column of TVs littered with VHS tapes, a pagan shrine to forgotten analog gods. The screens crackle and pop […]

New ‘Byzantium’ Trailer Looks Like a Legit Vampire Flick

May 22, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Vampire movies…sick to death of them. There’s way too many Twilights and soft core fluff than actual solid vampire films. The Let the Right One In and Near Dark‘s are few and far between. Byzantium, however, looks like a rather intriguing and well-assembled undead killer. “On the run for murder, two young “sisters” arrive penniless at an English seaside town. Clara is a fiercely modern woman who has her eyes on the future and no time for the past. Teenager […]

‘Bubba Ho-Tep’ Movie Review

May 20, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Written & Directed by Don Coscarelli Starring: Bruce Campbell, Ossie Davis, Ella Joyce Elvis and JFK, both alive and in nursing homes, fight for the souls of their fellow residents as they battle an ancient Egyptian Mummy. If that synopsis isn’t already a deal-breaker for you, there’s hope you might find this classic B Movie to be more of an A+ Movie. It’s just like it sounds: Elvis is convalescing at a Texas nursing home after trading identities with an […]

Today in Horror: The 10th Anniversary of the ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Series Finale

May 20, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Damn, geeks have gotten old. It’s been a decade since the life and death series finale that ended with the culmination of season seven. I recorded this show every week on my state of the art Sony VHS player. Feel old again? To this day, there is no geek-themed action/drama show that moves me in the way this one does. Supernatural has tons of heart and soul, and gives me the occasional goosebumps, but Buffy…oh, my dear trope-crushing Buffy Summers. […]

The Latest on ‘American Horror Story: Coven’

May 19, 2013 by Fister Roboto

I missed some cool horror news while I was sitting on my ass all last week. American Horror Story fans are an excitable bunch. We’re nowhere near the October debut, and the online pining is in full-effect. Ryan Murphy announced via Twitter that two very talented actresses have joined the season three cast. Angela Bassett and Patti LuPone are the newest additions since the announcement of Gabourey Sidibe and Kathy Bates. Also returning are series favorites: Jessica Lange, Taissa Farmiga, […]

‘Psycho’ Movie Review: Another Viewing After Watching ‘Bates Motel’

May 6, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Screenplay by Joseph Stefano Based on the novel by Robert Bloch Directed by Alfred Hitchcock Starring: Anthony Perkins, Vera Miles, John Gavin, and Janet Leigh A thirty-something secretary steals $40,000 from her employer’s client, and subsequently encounters a young motel proprietor too long under the domination of his mother. [Horror TV] Dexter Season 8 Behind the Scenes Video: From Cop to Killer

May 6, 2013 by Fister Roboto

The final season of Dexter begins on 6/30 and I, for one, wish it an expedient end. This once amazing series has been going downhill since season 5. While there have been plenty of decent episodes dotted across those last three seasons, I think the fans are aware of the need to put this show down. Carpenter and Hall are stuck this new season, stuck in the limbo after Deb killed last season. I can only hope she doesn’t spend […]

[Horror TV] Are We Ready for ‘True Blood’ Season 6? Full Trailer Inside

May 5, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Ladies and gentlemen, start your swamp boners: our favorite Bon Temp bang/gorefest starts up again on June 16 at 9PM EST. Everyone’s favorite deep-friend Shakespearean romp is back for its glorious sixth season. I pay for HBO and I’ve grown to like the sleazy but fun little show. The last, uh, four seasons have been suspect at best, but something about True Blood keeps me wanting to watch. It’s like calling into work with the flu and allowing your cable […]

Underwater monsters are hardly my favorite, but this might have some…bite to it. Sorry. Don’t judge – you’re the one that came here to watch a trailer about a lake monster. “When a bloodthirsty, underwater predator leaves a group of teens trapped on a leaking boat in the middle of a lake, the friends must choose between loyalty and survival in this monstrous morality tale from Fessenden.”

Bates Motel Promo: S1E8 ‘A Boy and His Dog’

Monday, May 6, brings another new episode. “A mysterious stranger causes problems for Norma; Bradley is not happy when rumors spread at school; Dylan and Remo go on a fateful road trip; Norman takes up a grisly hobby.” If you watched last night’s episode, were you half expecting Norman to just hammer that poor dog right in the head? Fister’s Devil Music of the Day: Rob Zombie ‘Teenage Nosferatu Pussy’

April 29, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Catchy title, huh? I’m loving the new RZ album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor. The funky keyboards really give it a jammed out vibe that merges well with John 5′s fantastic tone. Zombie’s lyrics are evil, over-the-top, pentagram laced bursts of acid dripping sexuality. I just assume every new stripper in America has a favorite off this record. Oh, hey, Mrs. Zombie.

We already know that Kathy Bates is taking the top honor of portraying Lange’s former bff, but who’s this newest Cajun centerpiece? Please welcome…Gabourey Sidibe. Returning earlier than ever is the sixth season of Dexter on 6/30. Prove me wrong, Dexter, but this is on you this season. Bates Motel S1E6 ‘The Truth’ Review

April 23, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Bates Motel is in full mid-season swing, kids. How many seasons can they keep this up until it’s time for an adult version of Norman Bates to cheerfully greet hotel guests is anyone’s guess. Last night’s episode ‘The Truth’ was a telling title. Hemlock Grove S1E1 Review ‘Jellyfish in the Sky’

April 21, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Eli Roth has delivered 13 new episodes of the Netflix original series, Hemlock Grove, to our televisions and tablets; something horror fans were really excited about. After watching the pilot episode, I’m not sure where my former excitement stands. The set up sounds simple, or at the very least – done to death. A couple of gypsies move to Hemlock Grove, PA., a fate worse than death from what I’ve seen so far. Before the cinder blocks start to pile […]

[The TPB Vault] ‘The Sixth Gun’

April 16, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Every once in a while you pick up a trade of a series you skipped or missed out on. Inevitably, the trade in question is mind-blowing and you kick yourself for not catching it an issue at a time. April 16, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Love it. Bates Motel is turning into an addiction. I say it every week, but the series is so good that you forget you’re seeing back story to Alfred Hitchcock’s classic, Psycho. I think a lot of people assumed the show would have a hard time gaining steam and it would most likely be a failed attempt to piggyback off the original film. Boy, were we wrong. Here’s Some Weak Footage from ‘Dexter’ Season 8 – Hooray

April 14, 2013 by Fister Roboto

It still feels weird to start a Dexter article with feelings of anger and frustration, but Showtime forced my hand. The once amazing series has taken on bloody water since season five. I know it has to be hard to top Lithgow as The Trinity Killer and all, but the last three seasons have taken our dark hero away from his code and basic character structure. It’s official that Dexter, in fact, does suck at the moment. No one at Showtime seems willing to confirm if season 8 is the end or not, so at least here’s some good news. ‘Bates Motel’ S1E4 ‘Trust Me’ Review

April 9, 2013 by Fister Roboto

SPOILERS Just four episodes deep and I’m completely fixated on this creative new series. I’ve said it before, but the show is so good that I forget that I’m watching formative years of Norman Bates’ young life. I’m not sure what happened to the once brilliant Dexter, but last season was just another reminder that the show is a ghost of its former self.
