Fister’s Devil Music of the Day: Type O Negative ‘Christian Woman’

June 18, 2013 by Fister Roboto

On of the few songs my old band covered a time or two. I’m feeling a little a little nostalgic about Pete today.

‘Room 237′ Movie Review

March 30, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Directed by Rodney Ascher Featuring: Bill Blakemore, Geoffrey Cocks, Juli Kearns, John Fell Ryan, Jay Weidner, and Buffy Visick A subjective documentary that explores the numerous theories about the hidden meanings within Stanley Kubrick’s film The Shining (1980). The film may be over 30 years old but it continues to inspire debate, speculation, and mystery. Nirvana for film fans, the poster boasts. That means much like Kurt Kobain, you’re likely to see something you enjoy rapidly erode until you just […]

The 2013 Lexington Comic & Toy Con

March 17, 2013 by Fister Roboto

The Second Annual Lexington Comic & Toy Con took place this weekend, and it was a glorious event. Less Power Ranger-heavy and with cooler guests, this year’s show was a total success. Kudos to everyone behind the scenes that put this together. Clearly, my high point was meeting the towering and iconic, Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and expressing my lifelong geekpreciation for his work. Regulated to a wheelchair, Mr. Mayhew was a warm gentleman that insisted I stopped calling him sir […]

Amazing Marvel Zombie ‘Iron Man’ Cosplay

March 6, 2013 by Fister Roboto

Superhero photographer extraordinaire, Adam Jay, took these bad ass zombiefied Iron Man photos, and it’s straight up awesome. It’s cool as hell, regardless, but throw on an automated visor and some LED lights, and you get unabashed cosplay Nirvana. Marvel Zombies haven’t done anything above average in some time, but the original run was fresh and inventive. If there’s any way to make something cooler, it’s to zombify it. Enjoy! Now, who has my zombie Deadpool pics?

Cozy Up with Pepper & Briarcliff: New Featurettes from ‘American Horror Story: Asylum’

November 27, 2012 by Fister Roboto

Holy crap. This is my 1000th post. I’m glad to use it on American Horror Story. Like we need a reason to get more excited about this season of AHS, but just to make sure, here’s three new featurettes from FX. The Cutting Room shows the viewers why we feel confined in Briarcliff ourselves. Editing techniques are utilized to the highest level in order to keep our hearts pounding each week. The Tools of the Horror focuses on the insane […]

Joe Hill’s Epic “Locke & Key” Comic Confirmed as Movie Trilogy

November 8, 2012 by Fister Roboto

Article by FisterRoboto of lefthandhorror.com Universal Studios have announced the IDW horror title “Locke & Key”, written by Joe Hill (Stephen King’s son) is indeed coming to the big screen as a trilogy. This comic is the best horror title of the last 20 years, hands down. Fans are excited and anxious to see these beloved characters coming to theaters. Writer/producer Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Transformers/Star Trek) are steering this deeply Lovecraftian story into moviegoers laps. Author, Hill, who knows a little […]

Bedlam #1 Comic Book Review – Official Fister Pick for November

November 4, 2012 by Fister Roboto

Article by FisterRoboto of lefthandhorror.com New from Image Comics is Bedlam, a brutal horror comic that lives up to its name. If you’re more kryptonite and golden lassos when it comes to comic reading – you’re going to want to get far, far away from this title. This is truly one of the most disturbing and violent comics I’ve read since Luther Strode. The genre has established itself both artistically and financially, and comics like Bedlam are reinforcing the trend. The opening panels […]

Bad Ass Gourds n’ Sh*t: Awesome Pumpkins & Jack O’ Lanterns

October 17, 2012 by Fister Roboto

Article by FisterRoboto of lefthandhorror.com Are you kidding me? Look at some of these intricately carved pumpkins from the world over. These people have my utmost respect. I buy that damn carving kit every year and suddenly begin hacking at my pumpkin like some old woman in the black and white portion of an infomercial. “Don’t have the strength or dexterity for all that constant arm movement?” This seasonal ritual of frustration and deeply rooted laziness always ends the same – I carve […]

Ghouls Gone By – Vintage Halloween Images from our Childhoods

October 10, 2012 by Fister Roboto

Article by FisterRoboto of lefthandhorror.com I get a little more excited/nostalgic with every new post during October. I come by Halloween as naturally as diabetes; it was just in there. I don’t think a horrors of diabetes website would be this much fun though. Quick to get myself back on track: Halloween is awesome, always has been and it always will be. My Illinois hometown had a little dime store called Hornsbys’, and they did Halloween right. I can smell the musty wood […]

The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XXIII Poster!

September 19, 2012 by Fister Roboto

Article by FisterRoboto of lefthandhorror.com I LOVE this time of year! “Destined to be yet another classic Halloween-themed episode of THE SIMPSONS, in the opener of the 23rd annual “Treehouse of Horror,” we go back to ancient times when a Mayan Homer and Marge are witnesses to the prediction by ancient calendar makers that 2012 will be the end of the world. In “The Greatest Story Ever Holed,” the first of three spine-chilling stories, the Springfield Subatomic Supercollider creates a […]

Happy Birthday to Dimebag Darrell & H.P. Lovecraft

August 20, 2012 by Fister Roboto

Article by FisterRoboto of lefthandhorror.com “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott was born this day in 1966. Pantera holds a special place in my heart to this day. Not only have they inspired countless contemporary metal bands, but the band themselves were influenced by the same Metallica and Iron Maiden records I was listening to as a kid. We lost him far too early and he is missed. Horror icon and writer, H.P. Lovecraft, was born this day in 1890. How troubling is […]

ParaNorman (2012) Movie Review

August 19, 2012 by Fister Roboto

Article by FisterRoboto of lefthandhorror.com Directed by Chris Butler & Sam Fell Written by Chris Butler Starring: Kodi Smit-McPhee, Anna Kendrick, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and John Goodman A misunderstood boy who can speak with the dead, takes on ghosts, zombies and grown-ups to save his town from a centuries-old curse. Pure awesome. While not as solid as Coraline, ParaNorman made me laugh out loud as well as cheer for the comprehensive horror feel of the film. Design an atmosphere are pivotal […]

April 9, 2012 by Fister Roboto

Article by FisterRoboto of lefthandhorror.com 1. Mark, you’re a comic book guy, tell us your origin story. Mark: Well, my mom met my dad, there was a spark, a few martinis and then…oh…waitaminnit…you want my “comics” origin? Okay…I’ve been reading and collecting comic books since about age five, drawing a lot, using the images in the books I read as reference. As I got older, I decided I really wanted to work in the field, following in the footsteps of […]

Fister’s Devil Music of the Day: White Zombie “Thunderkiss ’65″

February 16, 2012 by Fister Roboto

Article by FisterRoboto of lefthandhorror.com Remember when Rob Zombie was some weird white guy with crazy dreads? I was an impressionable, young metalhead when La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. I came out of nowhere. Zombie’s horror-ridden visual imagery is so simple, yet genius. Busty devil chicks, monsters, demons, evil robots, wrestlers, you have to admire his inspiration.  Legit through and through. Enjoy some Thunderkiss, kids.

Aftermath (1994) Movie Review

November 29, 2011 by Fister Roboto

Article by FisterRoboto of lefthandhorror.com Written & Directed by Nacho Cerda This film is 30 minutes long. Some might argue that’s about 29 too many. Aftermath contains no dialogue whatsoever. It doesn’t really need it; the visual aspect of the film carries the burden well. It’s late in the evening and a mortician receives the body of a young woman killed in a car crash. All the other employees are gone for the night, leaving him alone with his sick […]

Antichrist Movie Review (Spoilers)

November 6, 2011 by Fister Roboto

Article by Fister Roboto of lefthandhorror.com Written and directed by Lars von Trier Congratulations, Antichrist, you’ve delivered a horror film that bothered me on several levels. Antichrist is a 2009 art-house film by the self-proclaimed “world’s greatest director”, Lars von Trier. I don’t know how this controversial film made it under my radar, but I’m glad a friend suggested it. I won’t reveal everything in this review – this is a movie you’ll want to see with your own eyes. The Simpsons’ Halloween Art Over the Years

October 23, 2011 by Fister Roboto

Article by Fister Roboto of lefthandhorror.com The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror has been just as much a Halloween tradition for me as dressing up and drinking, The Simpsons aired their first TOH on 10/25/1990 and I was hooked from the start. Rarely do I see two of my favorite things meshing so nicely. While we’re all checking our backyards for Werewolf Flanders, let’s take a look back at some great Simpsons Halloween-inspired art.
